Of all the procedures at our disposal, executing this one is the starting point.
Of all the traits needed to effect reconciliation, honesty and openness with and about one's self comes first. Honesty with all others involved is equally important, but cannot happen without personal honesty. How can we be totally honest with others if we are kidding ourselves? This last requirement raises a touchy issue-- Hang-ups! Most of us have them; too few of us even know it--because at the root of all of them is denial. Denial is a defense the mind automatically throws up when we encounter emotional, complex, stressful, or frightening situations.
Achieving reconciliation begins with individuals at home. Then we can include extended family, neighbors and networking friends. Moving on from there we move to village, city, state, nation, and foreign countries.
The most powerful tools are Dialogue and Outreach.
